What’s the Point of AI Arena?
The Ultimate Objective for every player in AI Arena - is to design and train the most powerful AI and climb atop the global leaderboard.
This creates two sub-objectives, corresponding to the separate competitions within the Meta Competition.
- Research Competition – Researchers compete to design, train and battle AI models. Over time they create better AI models that can be used in the Gaming Competition.
- Gaming Competition - Gamers purchase, train and battle AI powered NFTs. Gamers compete to develop better training techniques.
What Do I Need to Play and Win?
There are key things you’ll need to have to begin your quest for domination. In economic terms, these things are called Factors of Production:
NFTs
NFTs are the main productive asset of the AI Arena economy. With intelligent AIs powering NFTs, we showcase progression and distinguish the skill level of different NFTs. NFTs are ranked on a global leaderboard.
As your fighter climbs the ranks, the potential rewards increase. It is important to note that unlike traditional games - where a character’s potential (and therefore value) is bound by design choices made by the game publisher (e.g. Rare characters are usually more powerful in a game than Common characters) - in AI Arena, all NFTs have similar potential to become the best in the Arena! While Battle Attributes do affect their relative strengths and weaknesses, the true separator of performance over time is determined by the skill of the player.
Token ($NRN)
AI Arena will have a native token called Neurons ($NRN). $NRN is a strategic resource within the game. When employed in the right way, it will maximize a players’ chances of achieving the Ultimate Objective.
Jump to the flow chart below to unpack why.
Labor (Researchers & Gamers)
The final factor of production is Labor. There are two groups, Researchers and Gamers.
More precisely, AI Arena requires value-add labor. Arenans progress up the leaderboard only if/when they inject skill, creativity and technology into the game.
What Are My Incentives?
There are three main devices that drive and align incentives within the AI Arena economy.
Competition – Competition encourages continuous innovation. Competition elevates the quality of players over time - resulting in an infinite game.
Reward Skill (Not Time) – We reward skilled gameplay, not time spent in-game. While we do expect some positive correlation between skill and time invested, rewarding skill drives better incentives because it encourages development of new strategies and tactics. We achieve this by providing higher token rewards for higher ranked players.
$NRN as a Strategic Resource - Using NRN comes with risk - i.e. there is no “free lunch”. This is why it is a strategic resource.
Players are rewarded NRN for performing well in the competition. See the flow chart and case studies below that tie these concepts together.
🔥Use in Merging Pool | Win better NFTs | Probability of winning NFT is dependent on performance in Ranked Battles. Follow the Winning NFT section of the Gaming Competition for more detail. | Well trained NFTs can earn more NRN Rewards ➡️ Ability to stake more NRN into Merging Pool ➡️ better chances of winning high quality NFT.
|
$NRN Utility | Reward | Risks | Incentives & Alignment to Ultimate Objective |
🔥Stake in Ranked Battles | Higher Stake ➡️ Higher NRN Reward | Over-staking relative to actual performance may result in loss of $NRN. See NRN Rewards for more detail. | Effective training ➡️ Higher ranking ➡️ Higher potential $NRN reward.
Rewards players with skill & conviction.
Elevates the quality of the overall competition.
